The lakes are just west of Banff Townsite. Easily visible from the vista points on the highway
above they make for great photos with the dominant Mount Rundle in the background. Mount Rundle is actually one mountain in a chain of mountains called the Rundle chain. Wetlands separate the 3 lakes
and you may see bikers peddling past. Watch for some of the 250
species (many migratory) that know these lakes well.
To get to the lakes take the last road on the right when approaching the Trans-Canada Highway (west offramp) from Banff and enjoy the paved road that winds it's way past the lakes. The trailhead starts at the end of the road.

Hiking here will introduce you to wetlands fauna and flora. Autumn is especially rewarding.
