TAKAKKAW FALLS 2 - Spring and Summer Flow

TAKAKKAW FALLS  |  TAKAKKAW FALLS 3

Takakkaw Falls is an hour drive from Banff, Alberta and is a very interesting visit.
It is the third highest waterfall in Canada and highest in the Rockies.

Take the trail to the right from the parking lot and cross over the bridge and up the paved trail to the base of the falls. In the spring the spray from the base of the falls will get you wet.

Unlike Niagara Falls you will ever see anyone going over the falls in a barrel.

The falls are fed by the Daly Glacier, which is part of the Waputik Icefield, one of hundreds located in the Canadian Rockies. The glacier will keep the falls gushing in the spring and summer months making the falls a terrific tourist attraction. Late spring has the greatest flow when the snowpack melts at higher elevations. The Takakkaw Falls were featured in the film "Last of the Dogmen".

Late summer and fall the falls are a gentle flow.
Late spring and summer the falls become a violent torrent.
