Waterton Park
Also known as the International Peace Park

PAGE 18

Waterton Park is now known as the International Peace Park.
Established to show the great friendship between the countries of Canada and the United States of America,
this beautiful park straddles the longest undefended border in the World.

Red Rock Canyon
A short, easy hike that takes you into a world of red, pink, and rose coloured rocks. Humans have called this home for many thousands of years.
Children love the rocks and water but stay close to them.

This is a great place to see wildlife.

What will you find in Waterton?
Well, Waterton Park is a fascinating blend of prairie which very quickly turns into vast mountain terrain. You will find stunning vistas of forests, lakes, Rockie Mountains, red rock canyons and rolling foothills. Great hiking trails await the lucky traveler who comes to Waterton.
Across the American border, in Montana is Glacier National Park, which is the other half of the National Peace Park. There is also a large National Park in British Columbia called Glacier national park! This is a joint national park between Canada and the United States. The American side of the park is entirely different from the Canadian side with steep mountains, cliff views and drives and alpine terrain. We recommend seeing both parks to see the full majesty and beauty of the region.

It is a couple of hours from Calgary in the southwestern corner of Alberta.
