The first thing to know is that the Athabasca Falls are not
in close proximity to Athasca Glacier. The second thing to know
is that you do not want to miss either one of these great sights. A short scenic drive from the Highway 93, it is easily accessible. Carving its way through quartz and sandstone rock, you will
love watching the roaring water drop 80 feet into a slim gorge.
The intepretive signs explain how the water has turned into liquid sandpaper carving intricate patterns into the rock. Further evidence of this is visible at MALIGNE CANYON.

Walk over the pedestrian bridge to see the raging falls from another
viewpoint and heed the signs that say "stay on the trails".
Some of those who did not, paid with their lives on the steep slippery
embankments. The falls are only about 20 miles from Jasper.
